Introductions on Display in Chicago, Going to NYC in July
Transforming Philip Johnson’s Glass House and it surroundings from private residence into a center for the study and appreciation of modernist architecture was the subject of a presentation co-sponsored by Paoli and Metropolis Magazine. Christy MacLear, executive director of the project for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, captivated an engaged audience with views of interiors previously unseen by the public and stories of daily life at the Glass House, including meticulous directions to the housekeeping staff and gardeners recorded in Johnson’s own handwriting. Metropolis editor-in-chief Susan Szenasy moderated.
